Thanks so much for taking the time to check out Raising the Root! My intent is to dedicate this chunk of the internet (and of my life) to my love of food–from growing food to cooking food to–most importantly and most fun–eating food.
Recently, a friend who had just bought her first house with a yard asked me for some advice on vegetable gardening. I started my first garden about ten years ago, and I have killed many many MANY plants (of all sorts) since then. In hopes of saving my friend from making my mistakes, I was ready and willing to impart any knowledge that I could. What resulted were several pages on how to start a vegetable garden, and I hadn’t even gotten the plants in the ground! Thus a blog was born.
A quick note – I live in Denver, and all of my gardening experience has occurred at a mile above sea level. If you are not in Colorado, some of the gardening details might not be helpful to you. Also, things cook at different temperatures at altitude, so you might have to adjust a bit when following recipes.
I am certainly not an expert at gardening or cooking, but I am passionate about both, and I would be happy to try to answer any questions you have–please don’t hesitate to ask.
Through this blog, I hope to make the process of planting and eating from your garden easy, fun, and most of all—delicious.
I love food. Love cooking. Love gardening. Hopefully a little bit of all of that will rub off on you.
Glad to see you are up and blogging!
Will you provide training on picking up bruised and rotted apples that have fallen from the trees?
Yes, and I AM an expert on finding the ones with the worms. Stay tuned…
We will turn rotten apples into apple pies dad!!!!!
Dad, that’s just WRONG!!!
(But I still clean my room just to make sure I don’t ever have to do that again.)
Congrats! I look forward to reading Raising the Root… And hopefully sampling some of your delish food… Looks fab!
U never cease to impress me, Anja Monya Sconya!
